London Film School announces year-long digital archive release to mark 70th anniversary

London Film School (LFS) today announces a year-long YouTube archive series to mark its 70th anniversary in 2026, celebrating seven decades of filmmaking talent by releasing a curated selection of its archival films on YouTube throughout the year.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the London Film School Graduate Showcase 2026. The event includes screening 56 films, showcasing the work of 39 scripts and hearing 40 pitches and presentations. The event took place at the BFI Southbank.

London Film School celebrates strong presence at Berlinale 2026

ABRACADABRA by Amay Mehrishi selected for Generation Kplus

London Film School (LFS) is proud to announce a significant presence at the 2026 Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), with student and alumni work represented across film selection, industry talent programmes, and special anniversary screenings.

 

"The end product is 6 hours but to get there was years of work. You have to remember your life is the process, don’t chase the final destination so much."

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with screenwriting alumnus, Samuel Jefferson, who told us all about his journey from grad to co-creator and head writer of the award winning Apple TV Original series, Berlin ER. The series won Best Drama Series and Best Cinematography Fiction (Tim Kuhn and Jieun Yi) at the German Television Awards, and was nominated for Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Directing Fiction and Best Editing Fiction – an incredible achievement!

BEST FILM DIRECTING AWARD FOR NORMA NEBOT

Norma Nebot has won BEST FILM DIRECTING AWARD for her film "ANNA" - Part 1 of the portmanteau film "SENSES" at the 2nd International Students Festival of Film Art, Balchik, Bulgaria, 22-26 September, organised and sponsored by the Student Film Forum Foundation - Bulgaria.

The jury's comment under the listing for the award was "for the elegant sensitivity of the tone of our time".

"I AND THOU" BY FEDERICO SPOLIANSKY WON BEST PRODUCTION IN THE EXPERIMENTAL SECTION OF FESTIVAL IN CHILE



Federico Spoliansky's graduation film "I AND THOU" has won the Award for Best Production in the Experimental Section of the International Festival de Cine

"VERA DRAKE" Director: MIKE LEIGH

VENICE GOLDEN LION WINNER "VERA DRAKE" directed by our Chairman of the LFS Board of Governors, MIKE LEIGH, took four of the top awards and scooped a total of six prizes at last nights British Independent Film Awards (BIFA's).

The story of a well-meaning back-street abortionist was named Best Independent Film, Mike Leigh was named Best Director and leading actors Imelda Staunton and Phil Davis were named Best Actors. The film also won prizes for Eddie Marsan as Best Supporting Actor and Best Achievement in Production.

"SOLO" WON AUDIENCES AWARD

Marina Simoes 6th term graduation film "SOLO" has won the Audiences Award at the International Student Film and Video Festival of Beijing Film Academy, 1-7 November 2004.

"ALMOST" WINS GRAND PRIX AT IMAGES 2004, SWITZERLAND

Daniel Mitelpunkt from Israel, LFS Graduate 2003. His film "ALMOST" won the Grand Prix Europeen des Premiers Films, IMAGES 2004, Vevey, Switzerland.
