Xueqi Wang was born in Hefei, a city in the middle east of China, in 1995. She graduated from university with a degree in Japanese Literature before going to London Film School. In her film school time, she directed a short film Walking In and has made several short films and documentaries as Director of Photography.

Lu felt that she can never finish her film. So she went to the countryside for a break where she met a man who call himself Du Fu, a Tang dynasty poet. When Lu thought she finally got a perfect protagonist to shoot, Du Fu decided to kill himself.
